It looks like Missouri is the place to go if you want to get your hands on the next generation Zune player. Remember the story a couple days ago about the units on display even though they aren’t supposed to hit the streets until Tuesday? Well, it seems to have happened again, because today we get news from Zunerama member Ed that he not only viewed one but was actually able to buy one. Don’t get jealous all you Zune lovers who think he beat you to the punch because there’s a catch and it’s a biggy.

He can’t actually use it yet! That’s right; Ed the St. Louis native who purchased his new player at an Office Depot says it won’t work until the release of firmware on the actual date the new Zunes are officially to go on sale. Although the picture is quite smudgy it’s still quite convincing to us here at Zune World.

Look at how much smaller it is in a side-by-side comparison to the original Zune. Man o man, now that’s what a real media player is supposed to look like!
