We keep hearing a lot recently about Microsoft's next generation Zune being scheduled for release sometime during the Holiday season in 2009! But, could this be true? Possibly, I mean the 2nd gen which took less than a year to complete was a vast improvement over the initial offering and with it comes a bit of a cache that allows Microsoft to take even greater leaps in the portable MP3 player market.
With Apple normally releasing a new model every other month (look for the iPod Invisible), Microsoft may have decided to take it's time and make the biggest plash we've seen in some time in this sector (think Xbox 360 of the MP3 market). However, I must admit to being a little disappointed by them not having at least some small upgrades for Zune prior to this Holiday season (Not just software related which is more than likely), I guess us Zuney folks will just have to wait and see what's in the plans but I'm certain that the jokes us Zune fans have heard over the past 18 months, which have already started to subside drastically, will continue on that path until we think of them equally in regards to the portable MP3 space.
