Yesterday, Jim Allchin, the senior Microsoft executive in charge of the new Windows Vista operating system, announced that the code is complete and that the replacement OS for XP is now finished and that the code will immediately start shipping out to their largest corporate customers.

Further evidence that this is indeed a product that is ready to ship out includes Nvidia’s introduction of a graphics card that is specifically designed for Microsoft’s new OS. Aside from the introduction of an entirely new graphics system Aero with Vista Mr. Allchin suggests that there are many other factors that will lead to public and corporate interest in upgrading and according to Allchin the biggest reason might be security “There are many good reasons to run Windows Vista, but in my view security is at the top of the list.”

Whether you’re interested in upgrading for the graphics or for the new security features or for any other reason or not, it certainly is exciting to finally have to code completed for the worlds most popular operating system.
