News from out of Redmond today has Microsoft snatching up French mobile music provider Musiwave whose clients include, T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Vodafone, O2, Telefonica, Telus and Orange; I a move that could be the genesis for a future mobile “Zune” marketplace. Given Musiwaves ties to cell phone manufacturers and service providers, along with a close working relationship in the music industry Microsoft may well be maneuvering to go head to head with Apple. Currently, Zune Marketplace does not offer the ability to download purchased content wirelessly, although it can download songs purchased previously through their online store. Donald Bell, Cnet senior editor of digital audio and MP3 recently reviewed the Zune 80 and made available his take on the device via online video. Watch this Youtube clip:
Some key points he made about Zune were the fact that it’s thinner and the screen size is larger, at 3.2’’ compared with the first at only 3’’. He also noted the controls are much simpler and more functional due to the new scrolling capability instead of just a click pad; the aluminum backing along with the new operating system is improved as well “We really like the new 80GB Zune, we know the Zune name has been really kicked around a lot but this one refines the ideas that were pretty good about the first one and makes them excellent”, all in all a distinctly positive review from Mr. Write Comment (0 Comments) |
