This is a hysterical video of Craig Ferguson talking about the New Zune. I don't know the actual date  of the taping but this really makes me laugh. The interesting thing is that we saw alot more of this kind of talk  a year and a half ago when these first came out but over time the wise cracking seems to be getting quite a bit lighter in nature.

When the Zune Originals website opened to go along with the introduction of the second generation Zunes a couple of weeks back we were only allowed to purchase the flash based 4 and 8 gigabyte varieties. Now that’s changed!

Today Zune Originals has announced they will also be offering the big daddy of Zune line, the 80GB hard drive based Zunes too.

So now you have the option of putting some really cool graphic and personalized text onto your Zune, to go along with the fact they’re already cooler than the iPod, this makes them that much better.

Online retails seem to agree, the Zune was a massive hit during the most relevant and lucrative time of the year. Just when some (iPod fanboys anyone?) seem to have pigeonholed the Zune as an also ran in the hunt for the Holiday shopper the second gen software, not only the new Zunes themselves have emerged as a true contender. Make no mistake about it!

If you read between the lines of most of the naysayers comments regarding what they appear to believe is a rush based solely on the limited availability of the new Zune 80, you'll see that they truely are afraid; very afraid! These are the same bloggers who would be lauding the same type of active move if the Mac had ever made one to begin with.

We'll see what they're writing two or three years down the road when these things they laughed about start to make their move to the top. We may be a long way back but there's still a mile to go and we're gnawing at the bit just waiting for our rider to toss us the reigns for the long stretch drive. I can hear it now "moving like a tremendous machine", see ya at the finish line Jobs.

Zune 80 on Fire - Selling Out at Virtually Every Online Retailer PDF Print E-mail

Who’d a thunk it? For over a year now, the majority of reviews and commentary regarding all things Zune have been slanted toward the negative, chunky, ugly, un-cool, were typical of headings for most Zune related articles; not so fast!

With the second incarnation the Zune appears to be one of this Holiday seasons true winners, as online retailers are reporting sales faster than they can get their hands on them. It’s true, the three major online retailers for consumer electronics, Best Buy, Circuit City and Amazon.com are all reporting the Zune 80GB as “Sold Out”.

Zune 80 Gigabyte

Is this good news or not, well, if you’re Microsoft it is but what about the customers and the retailers?

This is good news for those invested in Zune, however, I hope we see an influx of Zunes hitting the virtual shelves in time for Black Friday.

News from out of Redmond today has Microsoft snatching up French mobile music provider Musiwave whose clients include, T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Vodafone, O2, Telefonica, Telus and Orange; I a move that could be the genesis for a future mobile “Zune” marketplace.

Given Musiwaves ties to cell phone manufacturers and service providers, along with a close working relationship in the music industry Microsoft may well be maneuvering to go head to head with Apple.

Currently, Zune Marketplace does not offer the ability to download purchased content wirelessly, although it can download songs purchased previously through their online store.
